Pinocchio

Contributed puppet fabrication work for Guillermo del Toro’s reimagining of the classic story. The film combined expressive handcrafted puppetry with emotionally grounded storytelling and ambitious large-scale stop-motion production.

Shape Island Apple+

Served as Art Director and Head of Puppet Department for the stop-motion animated series on Apple TV+. The project focused on translating minimalist character designs of the books into fully functional stop-motion puppets built for performance and durability.

CORALINE

Tony started in features working at Laika in Portland Oregon on their debut feature, Coraline. Starting in the puppet department, casting maquettes, seeming and painting silicone puppets and developing new techniques to be used in puppet departments worldwide.

Mid productions he shifted his skills to the model shop, where he sculpted and fabricated a variety of animated props like bug furniture and enchanted plants in Coralines garden.

Paranorman

On the film Paranorman, my job in the puppet department took on a bit of a different role as animators were needed to work late into the night, sometimes needing assistance with broken or torn puppets mid-shot. I was their go-to after hours one-man puppet hospital ER.

Served as Art Director and Puppet Lead on the stop-motion music video BONE DRY, overseeing the visual development and fabrication of the film’s handcrafted characters and miniature world. The project embraced practical texture, atmospheric lighting, and expressive puppet performance to create a raw, surreal visual experience.
