Henry Selick’s CORALINE.

So many little hands…

My experience at Laika began by working in the puppet department began on the film Coraline, casting resin character maquettes for the directors and department leads. As puppet designs were approved, I began the puppet fabrication process, starting with casting and seeming what felt like an endless amount of silicone puppet parts.

Paranorman

On the film Paranorman, my job in the puppet department took on a bit of a different role as animators were needed to work late into the night, sometimes needing assistance with broken or torn puppets mid-shot. I was their go-to after hours one-man puppet hospital ER.

Bone Dry

Eels, Bone Dry stop-motion music video

On the Eels music video Bone Dry, I had the role of co-producer, art director and puppet fabrication lead. I managed a small crew of artists who had the task of transforming the band into skeleton puppets, while keeping each band members in-real-life personality and infusing it into the puppets. Everyone on my crew had the chance to do a little bit of everything as I oversaw and finalized each puppet, from sculpting, mold making and casting the puppets to be animated by some of the best in the business. A real dream project!
